Where's Randy?

Welcome to Santa Rosa County, a place more beautiful than you ever imagined.

Hello, Randy's the name. Tourism's my game. I was born at the Butterfly House in Navarre and especially chosen to be Santa Rosa County's Official Beaches to Rivers Tour Guide. I've flown high above this region and explored every nook and cranny, and I can't wait to share my love of this special place.

1) Testimonial: Find out what it's really like to experience the Beaches to Rivers of Santa Rosa

That's right! I'm not the only tour guide here... In fact, sometimes I like to leave it up to visitors who have experienced this place first hand to tell the stories. Follow this travel writer as she travels through Santa Rosa County from the beaches to the rivers.

Hikers' Delight

If you love to hike, I can tell you all about the ins and outs of Santa Rosa County. Spending much of my time airborne, I've pretty much seen it all, from the sand bars good for camping to the pitcher plants great for photographing to the slopes that will give your calves a working.

Fun for the Family... and the kid in you!

Well, there's the obvious... Navarre Beach. Everybody loves it. But, for families ready to trade in their swimsuits for just a day, I urge you to discover a few additional treasures, including a few that are off-the-beaten path so to speak.

Attention Water bugs!

Okay, so as a butterfly, I can't say I've spent much time in the water. I have, however, had a blast by watching people get wet. And, with their choice of the Gulf of Mexico, rivers, streams, and lakes, they certainly understand the saying, "My fingers are pruned up."

Walk in the Shoes of a Historian: Historic Milton

For those of you who love to get lost in history, you absolutely must shed your beach shoes for a day and walk in the shoes of a local historian. This place is rich with history... but it's up to you to investigate. You'll probably want to set your sight on Historic Milton.

Destinations along the Beaches to Rivers of Santa Rosa

Ok, let me give you the scoop...

Santa Rosa County offers three "must see" destinations. I visit each on a regular basis. It's simply too hard to pick one; you need to experience them all!

Navarre Beach

NAVARRE BEACH
First, let's not overlook the obvious retreat for outdoor enthusiasts: Navarre Beach, on of Florida's treasured barrier islands. To me, it's paradise. Twelve miles of picturesque coastline, emerald water, Gulf Islands National Seashore, pelicans, dolphins... it's everything and more.

Historic Milton

HISTORIC MILTON
Then, from the beaches... we head to the rivers. Built on the shores of Blackwater River, Milton attracts visitors from near and far to its Historic District, Veteran's Memorial Plaza, Riverwalk Park, and its weekly local vegetable market.

BLACKWATER RIVER STATE FORES

BLACKWATER RIVER STATE FOREST
Last, let me tell you about Blackwater River State Forest, better known as the "Canoe Capital of Florida." Now, here's a place you have to experience firsthand. With more than 190,000 acres of woodlands, lakes, and waterways, it is the largest state forest in Florida. It's a dream come true for hikers, campers, kayakers, mountain bikers, horseback riders, and nature lovers. Guess that's why I love it so much. You should see me paddle!
