Part of the
Florida National Scenic Trail system*, this hiking
trail connects with Jackson Red Ground Trail, winds
through longleaf pine forest and expansive wiregrass
ecosystems. It passes Hurricane Lake northward towards
the Florida/Alabama state line.
Landscape and Wildlife: This
trail winds through some of the best remaining
examples of the longleaf pine/wiregrass ecosystems
in the world. It also passes through a beautiful
bog containing carnivorous plants, such as pitcher
plants, glistening sundews, butterworts, and bladdworts.
